Hungering For Intensity, Longing For Peace
Carolyn M. Boyd + Enrique Bravo
Quest Upper Gallery
January 9th - March 6th, 2026
Carolyn and Enrique are fine artists specializing in cityscape and landscape paintings. They draw deep inspiration from their lived experiences. Enrique, inspired by the vibration of city life, juxtaposes Carolyn's peaceful experiences in the Canadian wilderness. The subject matter parallels their personal stories of immigration and living with disability. Despite their contrasting imagery, a shared story of the human experience is celebrated in "Hungering for Intensity, Longing for Peace".
Paintings walk parallel paths through different worlds. Enrique paints the city as it feels, restless, electric, and alive, where dreams stain the edges of concrete and glass. Carolyn's gaze turns toward the wilderness; her work is a quiet song of trees and sky. It speaks in birdsong and breeze, in the slow dance of clouds, in the way light curls through trees like breath. Her landscapes invite stillness, a return to something older, quieter, soothing and true. Together, their art tells a story of dual longing: for the energy of the city and the calm of the wild. "Hungering for Intensity, Longing for Peace" expresses two ends of the spectrum of human experience. City light and starlight, pavement and forest floor, horns and birdsong.
It is this dual longing and exploration of the human experience that they find connection with each other as artists and the viewer.

The Art of Butterflies
Catherine Brassard
Quest Mezzanine Gallery
January 9th - March 6th, 2026
As a cancer survivor, I am all too aware of the fine balance between life and death. I am constantly drawn to depict strength within the apparently fragile. My recent work is inspired by the wings of butterflies. For me, they are the marvellous intersection of science, the hand of the Creator, and the fragility of nature. On a microscopic level, they appear as random patterns of coloured tiles without purpose, almost like an abstract painting. As a whole, they are beautiful disguises that ensure the very survival of each species. I am awed by their complexity.
Opening Reception: Friday, January 9th, 2026 | 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. All Welcome.

HOME is a place of residence: it provides shelter and a space for daily activities like sleeping, eating, and relaxing. But beyond just a physical space, HOME is often where a person feels a sense of security, peace, and acceptance. It's a place where one can be themselves without fear of judgment. It represents the shared experiences, memories, and relationships that exist within our community.

Bald, a famous Midland photographer, captured the beauty of this town from his studio on King Street. Bald recorded life in his community from 1890 until 1953, when he retired. Bald’s work is a complete record of the life, work and play of small-town Midland, Ontario. Tri-Cultural Exhibition
Lise Marchand-Belcourt, Julia Eldridge + Charlotte Sprague
Quest Mezzanine Gallery
March 6th - May 8th, 2026
This March, Quest Art School + Gallery presents the Tri-Cultural Exhibition, a powerful and layered exploration of place, heritage, and belonging through the voices of three artists whose practices reflect the cultural threads that continue to shape our region. Together, these works invite viewers to consider how history is carried forward, reimagined, and reclaimed across generations, landscapes, and lived experiences.
Through a re-envisioned French-Canadian folktale, one artist reframes La Chasse-Galerie through a woman’s lens, transforming a story traditionally centred on male longing and freedom into a poetic tribute to women of the late 1800s. By grounding her figures in domestic reality while offering a glimpse of possibility and self-determination, this work honours the unseen resilience, labour, and inner lives of women whose stories were rarely told.
Another body of work merges Indigenous and European heritage through symbolic forms inspired by shields and totems. Drawing from the natural environments of the temperate and northern biomes, these pieces juxtapose the majesty of the land with the impacts of industry, consumerism, and cultural authority. The resulting imagery speaks to sovereignty, survival, and reconnection, offering a visual language of inclusion, presence, and ongoing cultural continuity.
Completing the exhibition is a richly textured exploration of Midland’s English-speaking settler history. Layered materials, colour, and surface echo the processes of community building itself, referencing the lumber industry, railways, shipbuilding, grain milling, and the individuals who helped shape the town’s foundation. Interactive elements at the edges of the work invite viewers to engage directly with this shared history, bridging past, present, and future.
Together, these three distinct yet interconnected practices form a collective narrative that reflects the complexity of our shared cultural landscape. The Tri-Cultural Exhibition is both a celebration and a conversation — one that honours ancestry, acknowledges impact, and invites reflection on how stories of place continue to evolve.

Quest Project Gallery
May 15th - July 7th, 2026
