Position: Project Manager (On-Site) - Adult Arts Programs & Exhibitions (2-Year Grant Position)
Duration: 2 Years (2025 - 2027) 
Location: Quest Art School + Gallery (333 King Street, Midland, ON) with some remote work as appropriate 
Rate of Pay: $40,000 to $45,500
Start Date: July 14th, 2025 

Job Description

 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of expanded visual arts exhibitions and adult workshop programming, working closely with staff, artists, educators, volunteers, and community stakeholders. This role requires both creative and administrative strengths, including curatorial and education program design, artist relations, event coordination, and OTF Grow grant compliance. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in operating within a not-for-profit organization, curatorial practice and a passion for community arts engagement. This role reports to the Executive Director of Quest Art School + Gallery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an expanded schedule of art exhibitions and adult workshop programs that align with the OTF Grow grant deliverables

  • Curate exhibitions for three gallery spaces

  • Liaise with local and regional artists and instructors

  • Plan and execute a juried art prize exhibition, including call for submissions, jury coordination, and public engagement

  • Coordinate an Art Slam community event, managing logistics, promotion, and community outreach

  • Foster collaboration with staff, Board of Directors and committees, providing regular updates and involving them in decision-making

  • Monthly monitoring of program budgets, timelines, and OTF Grow grant deliverable progress to ensure accountability and success

  • Liaise with the Executive Director and the local artist community to build a network

  • Liaise with committees for their advisory services

  • Support Grant writing initiatives as needed

  • Work closely with other team members and units to ensure the smooth execution of exhibitions and adult programs, including collaborating with Quest committees as well as Marketing and Communications, Community Engagement and Programming, and others
     

Qualifications

  • Education: A post-secondary degree in Visual Arts, Curatorial Studies, Arts Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in curatorial work, adult arts programming, and cultural event planning, ideally within a gallery, museum, or nonprofit arts organization

  • Communication + Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders. Proven experience working collaboratively with staff, board of Directors, committees, artists, and community partners.

  • Organizational + Project Management Skills: Strong organizational abilities with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and deadlines. Experience in coordinating exhibitions, public programs, and adult visual art initiatives from concept to completion

  • Grant Development: Experience in researching and writing grants

  • Additional Assets: Familiarity with equity-focused practices in adult/senior arts programming. Proficiency in digital tools and platforms related to arts administration (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva & Excel)

Working Conditions

  • Usual office conditions with frequent interruptions to provide advice and information to staff and the public regarding adult workshops and the galleries

  • Must be able to organize work schedules to meet identified priorities and deadlines

  • Observes regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm) with occasional weekend and evening work where required. In addition, there is an expectation to attend meetings and events outside regular hours

  • Satisfactory passing of a Vulnerable Sector check, employment and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
