Service Description
Photographing Your Artwork: Creating Professional Digital Images Learn how to confidently photograph your artwork and turn it into high-quality digital files you can use for portfolios, submissions, prints, and online sharing. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll walk through simple, effective techniques for capturing paintings with clarity and accuracy. You’ll learn how to set up your artwork, use lighting to avoid glare and harsh shadows, and photograph your work so that colours look true to the original piece. We’ll also cover practical tips for getting consistent, professional-looking results—even with basic equipment. As part of the workshop, each participant will receive professionally edited, colour-corrected digital files for up to three artworks. These final images will be high-resolution and ready for printing or digital use. Perfect for artists who want to document their work with confidence and present it at a professional standard. Artists are encouraged to bring up to 3 artworks with a max size of 3 feet by 4 feet Instructor Bio Jim grew up in a creative family—both of his parents were artists. He discovered his own passion for photography at the age of ten. After studying photography at Dawson College and Concordia University, he began his career working in studios in Old Montreal. One of the first skills he mastered was creating accurate copy shots of artwork, a technique he continues to use today. In 1996, Jim relocated to Ontario. For more than 35 years, he has photographed landscapes, portraits, and conceptual images. Much of his commercial work is represented by Getty Images, while his fine art prints are sold privately. Jim lives with his wife, Kirstin, just north of Bradford, near the Scanlon Creek Conservation Area.
