After 30 years of teaching French at various levels in the Perth area, our family decided to come back home to Georgian Bay in 2004. We had always spent our summers in Thunder Beach and being avid sailors, our move here was not a difficult one.

I finished my teaching career working at MSS in 2008 but that was not the end of my work life. In 2010, with 2 other local women, we incorporated a new not-for-profit organization whose aim was to provided organic local produce and summer employment for francophone students. We received two funding grants from the Ontario Trillium foundation and obtained our organic certification with EcoCert in 2012. Over the course of 6 years, we provided CSA food boxes, hosted field to fork dinners in the garden and provided employment for over 20 students.

Having passed on the garden to younger folk, I became more interested in pursuing my interests in Art. In 2018, I became involved with the Tiny Women’s Art Cooperative. For 8 years now, local women gather every Tuesday, to share their creative energies with others. We engage with each other and with the community in so many meaningful, fun ways.

The environment has also been on the forefront of my endeavors. Being a member of the Midland Bay Sailing Club since 2007, I was part of the committee that implemented the new Environmental policy for the club in 2020. I was a part of that committee for 5 years.

I have also been a member of various art groups, Quest being my most engaging one. After volunteering for several years, I have now decided to give more of my time to this creative group. I am very pleased to be sharing my experience and knowledge with members of Quest’s Board of Directors.
